AI-assisted software modernisation

Understand the System.
Improve It in Steps.

Use AI-assisted analysis and engineering to document existing applications, plan upgrades and develop reviewed software improvements.

THE BUSINESS CONTEXT

Start with
What Matters.

Older business applications often contain years of useful logic with limited documentation. Teams may hesitate to change them because integrations, data assumptions and deployment processes are poorly understood. AI-assisted analysis can help build a map, but the real system must remain the source of truth.

We combine repository inspection, working software and engineering review to identify a bounded improvement. The engagement can cover documentation, an isolated migration, test coverage or a new feature, with an explicit validation and rollback plan.

YOUR FIRST ENGAGEMENT

A Useful
Starting Point.

Focused Pilot

Assess one business-critical workflow and deliver a reviewed improvement in a staging environment.

What We Need from You

Authorised source access, a test environment, sample data and a technical owner.

What We Can Measure

  • Acceptance criteria passed
  • Regression issues
  • Maintainability improvements
  • Deployment recoverability

Measures are agreed for your project. Results depend on the data, workflow and evaluation; they are not guaranteed improvements.

WHAT WE DO

The Detail Behind
the Capability.

01

Map the Existing Application

Review authorised source code, configuration and interfaces without exposing secrets to unapproved tools. Produce a dependency and workflow map that engineers check against the running system. Record unknowns rather than treating generated explanations as proven architecture.

02

Choose a Bounded Improvement

Select a module, user journey or compatibility issue with clear acceptance criteria. Estimate effort using observed constraints and dependencies. A working slice creates evidence for a larger migration. AI-assisted coding does not remove the need to understand framework behaviour, licensing and external service contracts.

03

Develop and Review the Change

Use AI to assist with implementation, refactoring and documentation while maintaining human code review. Verify important behaviour through meaningful checks, including permissions and failure paths. Dependency changes and generated code are assessed before they enter a production build.

04

Release with Operational Ownership

Prepare staging verification, deployment steps and a rollback route. Explain changed behaviour to users and maintainers. Source access, documentation and continuing support are agreed in the proposal. The result should leave the application easier to operate, rather than dependent on a one-off generated patch.

A DEFINED ENGAGEMENT

Know What
You’re Building.

Your proposal defines the exact scope, responsibilities, milestones, and exclusions. Depending on the engagement, the work can include:

  • Application and dependency assessment
  • Prioritised modernisation plan
  • Reviewed code for the agreed scope
  • Regression and acceptance evidence
  • Deployment and rollback instructions
  • Updated technical documentation

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

A Few Useful Answers.

Can AI rebuild an entire legacy application?

Large replacements require discovery, data migration planning and staged validation. We recommend proving one useful slice before committing to a full rewrite.

Will we receive the source code?

Source ownership, repository access and third-party licensing are defined in the engagement agreement.

Can you work with our developers?

Yes. We can agree a module, review process and handoff that fits your team’s existing engineering workflow.
